The Global Water Wind Direction Sensor is designed to accurately measure wind direction even in the harshest environments. The wind direction transmitter is molded to 25 ft of marine grade cable, with lengths up to 500 ft available upon request. The wind direction sensor's output is 4-20 mA with a two wire configuration. The wind direction transmitter's electronics are completely encapsulated in marine grade epoxy within a rubber sleeve.
Why Measure Wind Direction?
Wind speed is a crucial weather parameter that requires monitoring and recording across various sectors such as meteorology, aviation, shipping, and construction among others. It plays a vital role in activities like weather forecasting, ensuring the safe operation of mechanical equipment like cranes and lifts, assessing the performance of wind farms, ensuring navigation safety in the shipping industry, aviation operations, as well as managing wastewater and landfill odor. On the other hand, Wind Direction is influenced by air pressure gradients and the areas between weather fronts, with air moving towards the low-pressure region. Other factors affecting wind direction include the Coriolis effect, friction, and land topography, with wind direction always indicated by the direction from which the wind is coming. An instance would be an east wind, where the wind is blowing from the east, equivalent to a wind direction of 90 degrees.
This wind direction vane connects easilty o SCADA, PLC, Process Controller, Digital Displays, Data Loggers and TElemetry Systems.
